Regional Directorate of skill development and Entrepreneurship (RDSDE) Shimla

The Regional Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (RDSDE), Himachal Pradesh is a regional office under the Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India. Formally established in December 2018, RDSDE Shimla began operations from Thakur Vatika, Khalini and Now the office is shifted to General Pool Office Accommodation, and functioning from  The Cleremont Building, Chaura Maidan Road, Shimla – 171004.

Our Mandate

RDSDE Himachal Pradesh serves as the nodal agency for implementing and monitoring key central government skill initiatives such as:

  • Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)
  • Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS)
  • Apprenticeship Training Programs
  • Jan Shikshan Sansthans (JSS)
  • Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP)

We aim to equip youth with job-ready skills and promote entrepreneurship across Himachal Pradesh.

Our Role

RDSDE works closely with key stakeholders, including:

  • State Directorate of Technical Education, Vocational and Industrial Training, HP
  • Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN)
  • National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Shimla Unit
  • Government ITIs, Polytechnics, and Technical Institutes
  • Industry bodies & private partners

We support training providers across urban, rural, and tribal areas of the state, ensuring delivery of quality, industry-aligned skill development programs.

History

The Regional Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (RDSDE), Himachal Pradesh, is a key regional office under the Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India. Established formally in December 2018, RDSDE Shimla began its operations from Thakur Vatika, Khalini in May 2019, and has recently been shifted to a new location at the General Pool Office Accommodation, The Cleremont Building, Chaura Maidan Road, Shimla – 171004, for better accessibility and coordination.

Our Mandate

RDSDE Himachal Pradesh functions as the nodal office for implementation, monitoring, and coordination of various skill development and entrepreneurship-related schemes and initiatives of the Government of India, especially under the purview of DGT. These schemes include:

  • Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)
  • Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS)
  • Apprenticeship Training Programs
  • Jan Shikshan Sansthans (JSS)
  • Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP)

Our goal is to empower youth through vocational training, create a skilled workforce aligned with industry needs, and promote entrepreneurship among diverse population segments in the state.

Our Role in Himachal Pradesh

RDSDE Shimla works in close coordination with multiple stakeholders, including:

  • State Directorate of Technical Education, Vocational and Industrial Training, HP
  • Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN)
  • National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) – Shimla Unit
  • Government ITIs, Polytechnics, and Technical Institutions
  • Industry bodies, private sector partners, and NGOs

We also facilitate policy implementation at the grassroots level by guiding and supporting Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), Training Providers, and Skill Centres in both urban and remote tribal regions of Himachal Pradesh.

Infrastructure & Outreach

The newly established office at The Cleremont Building is better equipped to provide improved administrative coordination, training monitoring, and stakeholder engagement. This location enhances our capacity to support initiatives such as:

  • Setting up and accrediting Training Centres
  • Mobilizing and skilling candidates in priority job roles
  • Conducting ToT (Training of Trainers) and ToA (Training of Assessors)
  • Collaborating on industry-relevant training programs
